Zusammenfassung
Neurosonologie ist in der Akutdiagnostik nach Hirninfarkt oder transitorisch ischämischer Attacke
und für therapeutische Entscheidungen zur Sekundärprävention ein unverzichtbares Hilfsmittel und
als Bedside-Verfahren in Durchführung und Interpretation vollständig in der Hand des behandelnden
Arztes. In dieser Arbeit soll ein Überblick über ultraschallunterstützte therapeutische Entscheidungen
auf der Basis der aktuellen Leitlinien gegeben werden und über wichtige Innovationen auf dem Gebiet
neurosonologischer Untersuchungsmethoden berichtet werden.

Dopplersonography and color coded duplexsonography in acute stroke –
recent developments

Abstract
Ultrasound vessel examination is an essential method to evaluate patients with acute stroke or transient
ischemic attacks and to support therapeutic decisions regarding secondary prevention after stroke. We
report typical findings of neurosonological examination in acute stroke patients and their impact on
therapy with respect to current therapeutical guidelines. Recent methodological developments such
as sonothrombolysis and perfusion imaging of brain parenchyma are described and their potential of
clinical application is highlighted.
