Thalliumintoxikation – eine seltene,
aber bedeutsame Differentialdiagnose
der Polyneuropathie

Zusammenfassung
Eine Polyneuropathie ist ursachenreich und erfordert zur Einleitung einer adäquaten Akuttherapie
eine rasche und umfangreiche Diagnostik. Eine Thalliumintoxikation, eine heute sehr seltene Schwermetallvergiftung,
kann primär als axonale Polyneuropathie imponieren, wenn auf Zusatzsymptome
nicht geachtet wird oder solche zunächst nicht vordergründig sind. Eine Kasuistik unterstreicht diese
Problematik.

Thallium poisoning – a seldom, but significant differentiated diagnosis in polyneuropathy

Abstract
A polyneuropathy originates from different causes and needs the immediate kick-off of an adequate
acute therapy as well as an extensive diagnosis. A thallium poisoning, which is an intoxication from
heavy metal which is rather seldom today, can primary appear as an axonale polyneuropathy if additional
symptoms – most of which are not very ostensible at first sight – are not taken into account.
A special case study is illustrating the issue.
